Gov.Yusuf Lays Foundation of N27 billion Naira Overpass, Underpass

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has laid the foundation of three-layer interchange bridge at Dan’agundi junction, and a clover leaf Overpass bridge at Tal’udu roundabout,all in Kano metropolis, worth N27 billion.

A statement by his Director-General Media and Publicity,Sunusi Nature Dawakin Tofa, said Governor Yusuf performed the function on Friday amid cheers from residents of the city.

While laying the foundation, the governor said the major projects were initiated to reduce traffic congestion, ease transportation, beautify the city, control pollution and develop infrastructure in the ancient city.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to infrastructure development in the state and its determination to deliver more dividends of democracy, especially to the downtrodden.

He said Kano as a mega city deserved massive infrastructure transformation to cater for the needs of the over ten million urban dwellers and improve the socio-economic well being of residents of the city.

Governor Yusuf further stated that the 2024 budget which he had already signed into law had given priority to capital projects which took the lion share of 60 percent.

He urged the contractor handling the project to ensure its timely completion, adhere to the contract provisions, use of quality materials, as the government wouldn’t condone sub-standard work.

On the financing of the projects,the Governor explained that it had been the tradition of his predecessors to finance such gigantic projects through the joint- account managed by the State Government and the Local Governments.

He appealed to people using the project routes and those close to the sites to exercise patience over the inconveniences the projects might cause them, assuring that plans were underway to create alternative routes for easy flow of traffic.
