Gov.Yusuf Receives New Telegraph Nigeria Best Governor Of The Year Award On Education

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has been named best Nigerian Governor of the Year 2024 on Educational Development by the prestigious New Telegraph Newspapers.
The award was presented to Governor Yusuf in Lagos by former Abia State Governor, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, who is the Publisher of the New Telegraph Newspapers, alongside Former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshumole.
A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mr Sanusi Bature, said the award programme which was graced by the Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, and other highly placed dignitaries, showcased Governor Yusuf’s high commitment to the development of education and his unflinching support to the growth of the sector.
Yusuf, who was represented by his Special Adviser on State Affairs, Usman Bala, a Former Head of Service in the state, the State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, other top Government dignitries, expressed deep happiness for the award.
He also expressed his commitment to continue to give the education sector more attention and support so as
to achieve the most desired education reforms championed by his government.
Governor Yusuf was selected alongside other seven Nigerian Governors of Ekiti, Sokoto, Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Borno, Delta and Osun States.
He was selected based on his administration’s commitment to education reforms including the declaration of state of emergency on education, sponsorship of 1, 001 post-graduate students abroad, recruitment of teachers, provision of classrooms, instructional materials, desks and chairs and allocation of 29.5 and 31 per cent of the total budget for 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Those who represented the Governor at occasion included the State Commissioner For Information, Ibrahim Waiya, Special Adviser State Affairs, Usman Bala, Director General Protocol Abdullahi Rogo and the Director General Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Others were:the Commissioner of Culture and Tourism Aisha Lawan Saji, Special Adviser on Civil Service matters Suleiman Wali Sani,Special Adviser on education Tajuddeen Gambo, Managing Director of KASCO, Dr Kabiru Sani, Managing Director Tourims,Tukur Bala Sagagi and Managing Director Abubakar Rimi Market, Abdul Hussain, among others.
