Gov Yusuf Urges Donor Agencies To Report Breaches In Projects’ Implementation

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has urged donor agencies co-funding projects in the state to report to him any breaches they observed in the implementation of the projects for necessary action.

Yusuf made the request in a key address at the inauguration of a programme on Effective Utilization of International Development Funds for the execution of projects in the state.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi,the Governor said the Donor Agencies should reach him directly to deliver any observed anomalies regarding the execution of the projects to enable him to act on them.

He said his administration is determined to ensure accountability and prompt execution of the projects to enable the people of the state benefit from them.

Earlier, the convener of the event and Accountant General of Kano State, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam said the state has released about N600 million as counterpart funding to the new projects based on the needs and effective implementation of the projects as it directly benefits the citizens of the state.

Abdulsalam said the gathering was to bring together the stakeholders and implementing partners implementing the donor agencies fund on how to work together to ensure full utilization and effective implementation of the International Development funds to achieve the deliverables of the projects within time, cost and scope.

“We came to learn that the international development funds which we call capital receipt in our yearly budgets which constitutes about 30 per cent of our yearly budgets. And these funds are not grants, most of them are loans to the state.

“So,that is why we ensure value for money and effective utilization and implementation of these projects within the project triangles of cost, scope and time,” he said.

“Some of the projects are about improving water supply, Agriculture, food security, climate change, degradation of our rural areas, education, sanitation, rural access roads and health care services among others,” he said.
