Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara Still in PDP — Says Jakada Mubi

Speculations making the rounds that Governor Dauda Lawal Dare of Zamfara State has defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are false and misleading.
A close associate of the Governor, Alhaji Fahat Jakada Mubi, debunked the claim in a press statement he personally signed and issued in Abuja on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
He clarified that Governor Dauda Lawal Dare was in Abuja to attend an official function at the National Institute of Security Studies, not for any political engagement.
In the statement, Jakada explained that the Governor was a guest lecturer to participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 18 on Wednesday at the National Institute for Security Studies in Abuja — not for any political negotiations, let alone cross-carpeting from his party (PDP).
Jakada described the development as “a calculated attempt to create confusion by mischief makers whom Governor Dare has rendered jobless since assuming office in 2023, especially with his outstanding performance in transforming Zamfara State into a viable entity among its peers.”
He further emphasized that “Governor Dauda Lawal Dare remains a committed member of the PDP and was in Abuja strictly for an official assignment, where he delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Non-state Actors in Security Management: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects for Peace and Development in Africa — A Zamfara State Perspective.’”
Jakada therefore called on the public to disregard such fake news being circulated by political detractors and hatchet jobbers sponsored by their paymasters for selfish gains.
He noted that Governor Dauda Lawal Dare remains focused on delivering meaningful projects with direct impact on the people of Zamfara State.
“I urge everyone to disregard such misleading fake news being spread by enemies of progress for their selfish interests and to create unnecessary confusion in our dear state, where Governor Dauda has rekindled a transformation drive across all sectors,” Jakada remarked.
He enjoined all citizens to continue supporting and praying for Governor Dauda Lawal Dare to succeed in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.
