Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has commissioned a newly constructed multi-million Naira grains market in Hong, aimed at boosting commercial activities and enhancing economic growth in the area.
Governor Fintiri, who was in Hong to mark the one-year anniversary of the paramount ruler of Hong, the Tol-Huba, expressed gratitude to the traditional leaders for their fatherly roles in maintaining peace and harmony within their domains.
He also announced plans for the construction of six kilometres of road and the extension of electricity to communities in Hong Local Government Area, assuring that both the road project and a new Science and Technology Secondary School would be completed and commissioned before the end of 2026.
The Governor further revealed that his administration would revitalize the water supply system to ensure improved access to potable water for residents. He also pledged to support the Huba Development Plan with a donation of N100 million.
Chairman of the occasion and immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, in his address, noted that the Huba people had long maintained an organized institutional structure before colonial realignments. He described the creation of the chiefdom as a formal recognition of their heritage and commended Governor Fintiri for restoring institutional dignity.
In his remarks, the celebrant and Tol-Huba, Chief Dr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, extolled Governor Fintiri as a hero who restored honor and pride to the Huba people after more than a century.
As a mark of respect and appreciation for his contributions to the development of the Huba people, the paramount ruler conferred on Governor Fintiri the traditional title of “The Second Midala Huba.”
Other highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of certificates confirming traditional titles on selected recipients, including the Governor, the official launch of the Huba Development Action Plan, and colorful processions by districts within the chiefdom.
