Governor Namadi Appoints Emir Of Katagum As Chancellor Of Sule Lamido University

Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, Visitor of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, has approved the appointment of His Highness, the Emir of KATAGUM, Alhaji Baba Umar Farouq as the new Chancellor of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim.

The SSG noted that a delegation, led by himself, has already presented the appointment letter to the new Chancellor at his palace in Katagun.

He explained that this appointment is in accordance with Section 8 of the Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa Law, 2013.

Additionally, Section 2 of the Second Schedule of the law supports this appointment, granting the Visitor of the University the authority to appoint a Chancellor for the institution.

Malam Bala Ibrahim highlighted that extensive consultations were conducted before arriving at the decision to appoint the Emir as the new Chancellor. He stated, “The Emir is a recognized and respected elder statesman and indeed an eminent personality of proven integrity.”

The SSG also mentioned that he was part of the delegation that presented the appointment letter. “I am therefore glad to inform you that the Emir has accepted the appointment and assured the Governor and the people of Jigawa of his readiness to serve.”

This appointment takes effect immediately.
