Group commends Jigawa govt for prioritizing citizens’ input in budget formulation

The Exceptional Leadership and Integrity Promotion Initiatives (ELIP Initiatives) congratulated the Jigawa state government for institutionalization of Citizens’ participation in the high level budget discussion chaired by the executive governor of the State.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by the executive director of ELIP-Initiative comrade Isah Mustapha and made it available to news men.
According to the statement, the exercise has clearly brought to the fore the present administration commitment in considering community priorities in its budget formulation.
This further demonstrates the state’s determination and commitment to maintain its status as the pace-setter in governance reforms in the country.
“We equally appreciate the priority given to citizens’ input submitted to the state government.It is our hope that, the present administration’s responsiveness to yearnings and demands of citizens as well as belief in participatory governance will be reciprocated by the general public through proper utilization and protection government projects, services for community ownership.
“ELIP appreciated the Jigawa State Government for considering programs and initiative that will improve human capital development indices in the state, we equally appreciate the government for making significant allocation for human resource, recruitment and redesigning constituency projects to empower more citizens”the statement said.
The Initiative also commended the effort of Ministry of Budget and planning as well as other sector planning teams for mutual working relationship with Civil Society Organizations, we hope the state government will sustain the engagement.
The statement then assured that, ELIP-Initiative will continue to collaborate with government and other partners for the improvement of socio-economic development of the state.
