Group Urges Tinubu Not To Appoint Some Ex-APC Governors Into Cabinet

By Abdullahi Yusuf

A group, the Voice of Northern Youths Patriots, has urged President Bola Tinubu not to appoint some three former APC Governors from the Northwest into his cabinet, because of what they called “the weighty allegations against them.”

The Chairman of the group,Alhaji Mustapha Mai Royal, made the call while addressing newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre,Kano, on Monday.

Mai Royal said the President should not include the former APC governors in his cabinet in view of the bad governance they allegedly perpetrated while in office.

According to him, appointing the ex-governors into his cabinet would amount to reneging on his promise to engage people of proven integrity to work in his government.

He alleged that the three former governors had committed so much atrocities while serving as governors in their respective states which had brought untold hardships to the people and which made them unfit to hold public office, again.

Such misdemeanors, the Chairman said, included bribery and corruption which had dented their records and ridiculed them in the eyes of the Nigerian public.

“We, therefore, appeal to President Bola Tinubu to look for people with unquestionable character and records and appoint them as his Ministers and other functionaries that would give his government credibility.

“Doing otherwise would compel Nigerians to think otherwise about fulfilling the promises the President made during his electioneering campaigns which bordered on improving their lives.

“The Northwest, and indeed, the entire Northern region, are abundantly blessed with people of proven records of integrity and sound character from whom the President can choose and appoint into various positions in his government, but not the three former governors,” the group added.
