The Kano State Students’ Council said it had rejected a call by opposition parties to its members to join the planned nationwide protests.
“It has come to our notice that some bad eggs from opposition parties are calling Kano State Students to come out and protest, but we will not join the protests,” said Comrade Yahaya Usman Kabo, Chairman of the Council.
Addressing newsmen in Kano on Sunday, Kabo called on the entire Kano State Students “to stay away from any forms of protest.”
“This protest is organized by unknown people who are the enemies of democracy and the country called Nigeria; their reason is not the economic hardships, it is because they lost election and they don’t want take it as destiny.
“They want to cause violence and chaos.
Kano State Students will never be part of this protest or any form of anti-government demonstration.
“The Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing its best to resolve the economic hardships in the country,” he said.
The chairman cited the Students Loan and the National Youth Investment Programmes as some of the government’s efforts to support students and youths in the country.
“We call on Nigerian Students to ignore any call from any body to protest against the government we voted for, the government we love and the government that loves us,” he added.
