From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa State Government has been served with litigation summons regarding a suit challenging the constitutionality of the creation and appointment of the new Fufore Emirate and its Emir, Alhaji Mohammad Sani Ahmadu Ribadu.

A motion on notice issued by High Court No. 4, Yola indicated that the suit was instituted by three plaintiffs/applicants: Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed (Dujiman Adamawa), Alhaji Mustapha Dahiru Mustapha (Yeriman Adamawa), and Alhaji Mustapha Ahmadu (Sarkin Noma Adamawa).

The defendants/respondents in the case are the Adamawa State Government, the Governor of Adamawa State, the Attorney General, and Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ahmadu Ribadu.

Investigations revealed that the motion on notice served on the state government and the Governor was received by an official, Hamza Gawinan, at the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor on Tuesday. The notice for the Attorney General was received by K.O. Abdullahi, Esq., at the Ministry of Justice.

Previous Court Proceedings: The applicants had earlier approached the court seeking an order of injunction to halt the coronation of the Emir of Fufore, scheduled for Wednesday. However, the request was unsuccessful as the court, presided over by Justice Musa Usman, adjourned the matter to February 12, 2025, for mentioning and subsequent hearing.
