Higher Security Pay is Key to Solving Nigeria’s Security Issues – Hon. Mazoji
Hon. Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji, an elder statesman of the PDP in Katsina State and former senatorial aspirant from the Funtua Zone, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all stakeholders to urgently increase the salaries and allowances of Nigeria’s security agencies by 100%.
He believes this move will give security personnel a sense of belonging and encourage them to perform their duties more effectively.
Mazoji emphasized the need for President Tinubu to introduce new measures that will take care of the education, health, and daily welfare of the families of Nigeria’s security personnel.
He suggested that allowances should include at least five hundred thousand naira for any officer sent on special assignments. He argued that such steps are necessary for security personnel to have peace of mind while tackling the country’s current security challenges.
He also drew attention to the President’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy, which has triggered widespread unrest and concerns across the country.
The potential impact of this decision on the cost of living for the average Nigerian is profound, with the current fuel price being untenable for many.
Similarly, Babba Mazoji noted that the closure of borders has had a detrimental effect on trade and the availability of essential goods.
He urged that reopening them would stimulate economic activity, reduce inflation, and improve the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians who depend on cross-border trade.
Reiterating his concern about the importance of fighting corruption within government corridors, Mazoji implored all stakeholders to take decisive action against corrupt practices, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of government.
“Mr. President, the concerns of the citizens are valid, and their voices must be heard. Your leadership in addressing these critical issues will not only restore confidence in your administration but also pave the way for a more prosperous and stable Nigeria,” Mazoji stated.
He emphasized that immediate intervention will demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing Nigerians’ concerns and will play a crucial role in calming the situation.
