Hon. Sagir Koki: Stellar Performance of a Legislative Pace-setter

All he ever wanted as a child to do in life was to make a difference in other people’s lives. As a child, he thought the only way to accomplish this was to engage in a vocation where his impact would be most felt. Some decades later, Hon. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Midstream, is exactly doing what he always wanted to do – touch lives positively.

Hon. Koki is an extra ordinary serial entrepreneur turned politician who has overcome all manner of obstacles ranged on his path. People have criticized his guts and sometimes daring political stubbornness, but he has the knack for succeeding in virtually all enterprises he has embarked upon in life.
Hon. Engr. Sagir Koki started life with a humble beginning and by a dint of hard work, strong determination and dedication, providence or nature lifted him unto his present enviable position of national reckoning. A very principled and highly respected parliamentarian; a giant among peers not only in terms of intellect, vision and prestige but also in terms of sterling qualities of representation; a man endowed with pragmatism, high sense of service, dynamism and unalloyed love for the job of making laws that will enhance wellbeing of people, the Kano-Municipal representative truly embodies all these and even beyond.

Born in Koki quarters of Kano-Municipal Local Government Area of Kano State, Hon. Sagir Koki started computing career in the 1990s with Microtec Computer Systems Limited soon after his graduation from the famous Bayero University Kano in 1995 with (B.Engr) in Electrical Engineering.He rose to an enviable position in the organisation from 1996 to 1999.

In the year 2000, he ventured into private practice as the Founder/Chairman of the one of most successful indigenous IT Firms in Nigeria today: Project Wheel Limited, now Starring Group of Companies Ltd.
The member of the House Representatives, Hon. Sagir I. Koki is an astute Electrical Engineer with years of experience in diverse areas of IT, an expert in the human capital development, who has deployed cutting-edge ICT projects for World Bank, Federal Parastatals, State and corporate organizations.
In a bid to strengthen his managerial skills, he enrolled for MBA in the prestigious Business School, Netherland and also from Metropolitan School of Business and Management, United Kingdom.He is a registered member with Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society, and The Institute of Management Consultants.

Hon. Koki is also a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Management. He is a former Board member of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta and Cahatered Institute of Management Consultants.The legislator is an expert in Maritime, IT, Security and Logistics. He is a philanthropist – a lover of truth. Engr. Koki enjoys Youth empowerment and Research and advocates for good governance.

The journey of Hon. Sagir I.Koki’s representation of Kano-Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the National Assembly began on a high note. He was able to change the fortune of his constituency, from being one of the most neglected constituencies in the country in terms of true representation in the National Assembly to a vibrant, most impacted constituency in the present dispensation.
This is even so because as soon as the inauguration of 10th Assembly in 2023, he swung into action towards providing the people of his constituency with an inclusive representation they never had before.Hon. Koki’s quality representation with vigour, expertise and experience can only be equated to a multiple-term member of the lower house. He has vindicated his mettle and constituents that the confidence reposed in him was not in vain with his eloquent, consistent and fearless voice always seeking the improvement of lives of his constituents, Kano and Nigeria in general.

He has a big dossier of constituency outreach that reflects his close touch with his constituents. The lawmaker has utilized the opportunity given to him through projects he attracted to his constituency. No surprise that his name is already registered in the hearts of his people. He is truly a representative of the people going by the amount of work he was able to do for the overall benefit of his constituents.

In fact, it is worth elucidating that a business man turned parliamentarian has overcome all manner of obstacles on his path. Hon. Sagir Ibrahim Koki was able to touch the lives of the people of whole Kano in his two years of legislative stewardship. It is an undisputable fact that no matter what anyone would say, the number of dividends of democracy that this representative was able to bring to the door step of the people he is representing remain unmatched.

His development credentials and landmarks speak volumes. The highlights of which were stellar achievements of constructing and rehabilitating schools and re-positioning the educational sector in the more definitive, radically progressive and futuristic manner, not to mention the expansive provision of basic welfare amenities for the citizens in water resources, healthcare, power and the greatly improved living standards for his constituents in terms of capacity building, empowerment and educational scholarship for his people. All these put together shine brightly for both his admirers and detractors.
Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki is a man of his words and amazingly bold. He mean every word he says and goes for it. His statements are never taken for granted as are astonishingly translated into action for the good of the people and a politician with such clout and driving spirit coupled with extraordinary zeal, determination, and political sagacity to improve his constituents’ well-being.
