House Of Reps Delegation Visits Maiduguri, Donates N100m To Flood Victims

A special Delegation of the House of Representatives on Tuesday visited Maiduguri,Borno State,and sympathized and commiserated with the Government and people of the state over the recent flood disaster that ravaged the area.
The delegation was led by the former Majority leader and Chairman of Northern regional Caucus of the House, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.
This is contained in a statement signed by the leader of the delegation,Alhassan Ado Doguwa,and released to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.
Doguwa said the delegation on behalf of the Speaker of the House,Tajuddeen Abbas,and the entire members of the Legislature, donated the sum of N100 million to assist the victims of the flood.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his “prompt and swift response” to the plight of the people of Borno State by assuring Federal Government’s support to the state government and the victims.
“We also pledged the National Assembly’s readiness to liase with the Federal Government to come up with a legislative framework or any possible budgetary intervention to help State Governments to address the impact of flood disaster in the country,” he said.
Doguwa also stated that while in Maiduguri,the delegation visited the Shehu of Borno at his palace where it condoled with him over the loss of lives recorded during the disaster.
