President Bola Tinubu on Monday welcomed Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during an interfaith breaking of fast with state governors.
Hosting Muslim and Christian leaders observing Ramadan and Lent, the President expressed delight at Governor Yusuf’s presence at the State House.
“I am glad I can see Abba from Kano. Even though the cap is red, it is not different from that of the Ebonyi State governor,” Tinubu remarked in a light-hearted tone, drawing attention to the spirit of unity at the gathering.
The President used the occasion to urge governors to demonstrate greater compassion for the poor and underprivileged, stressing that the sacred periods of Ramadan and Lent should inspire policies that directly impact citizens at the grassroots.
Tinubu noted that both seasons symbolise discipline, sacrifice, faith and resilience, urging leaders to strengthen unity and promote inclusive development across religious and ethnic lines.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to poverty reduction, youth empowerment and security reform, including plans to establish state police to tackle insecurity nationwide.
The event underscored renewed calls for tolerance, interfaith harmony and collaborative governance aimed at spreading development opportunities across states and local governments.
