IHRC-RFT Nigeria Urges Unity, Divine Reflection Amid Insecurity

The International Human Rights Commission – Relief Fund Trust (IHRC-RFT), Nigeria Chapter, has expressed deep concern over the worsening insecurity in Zamfara State and across the country, urging unity, responsibility, and divine reflection in addressing the crisis.

In a statement issued and signed by the Country Director, Ambassador Abdullahi Bakoji Adamu, the commission lamented the revelations made by the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, on the devastating impact of banditry and the constraints faced in combating it.

The commission described as heartbreaking the situation where, despite the availability of intelligence on the movements of bandits, effective action cannot be taken without clearance from higher authorities.

It stressed that the insecurity challenge is not only a security matter but also a moral and humanitarian crisis demanding urgent collective response.

IHRC-RFT urged religious leaders to rise with sincerity by preaching repentance, righteousness, and the sanctity of human life, while traditional rulers were called upon to stand firm as custodians of culture and conscience, guiding their people with justice and resisting any form of collaboration with criminals.

Political leaders were reminded that power is a trust and a test from God which must be exercised with sincerity and responsibility.

The commission further admonished those misled into banditry and terrorism to reflect on the greatness of Allah and remember that no wealth, gun, or position can save them from death and divine judgment.

The general public was encouraged to remain steadfast in prayers, supplications, and good deeds, as security is a collective responsibility.

IHRC-RFT also appealed to the Federal Government to take decisive, people-centered measures to restore confidence and protect lives and property, noting that injustice, negligence, and delays only embolden criminals and fuel despair among citizens.

“The IHRC-RFT Nigeria Chapter stands in solidarity with all victims of violence and calls for a national awakening and return to God, to conscience, and to humanity,” the statement read.

It concluded with prayers for divine healing of the nation and guidance for its leaders.
