Interim Caretaker Committees Urged to Prioritize Health

The need for the newly sworn-in Interim Caretaker Committees in Kano State to give maximum attention to the health of the people in their respective LGAs has been stressed.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, made the call yesterday shortly after conducting round the polio vaccination supervision in Kiru and Bebeji LGAs respectively.

The Commissioner said the call is necessary in view of the paramount importance health has in any given society, stressing that without adequate health condition schooling, farming, etc wouldn’t be feasible.

He further urged them to ensure all eligible children across the 44 LGAs are fully vaccinated against poliomyelitis as the ministry and other stakeholders are on top gear to see to the tremendous success of the exercise.

Dr. Labaran thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unflinching support to the health sector of the state through total transformations, a move that has yielded positive results.

The Commissioner expressed delight on the way and manner the exercise goes, smoothly and successfully, noting with impression the turnout of people bringing children to the fixed-posts and other centres in addition to the cooperation given to house to house vaccinators, appreciating the fact that the exercise in Kiru and Bebeji has recorded not less than 80% success.

He urged people to multiply the tempo by bringing out all other eligible children especially those coming from the neighbouring states, reasoning that most of them have not been vaccinated for long in their respective state thereby bringing and spreading some infectious diseases to the state.
