Internal Crisis Rocks Jigawa PDP as Faction Seeks Court Order to Nullify Leadership
From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has taken legal action to challenge the outcome of the recent local government and state congress elections conducted by the party.
The group, identifying itself as the Committee for Ensuring Justice and Privileges, is led by Alhaji Abba Anas Adamu. While addressing journalists shortly after the court sitting on Tuesday at the High Court in Dutse, the faction expressed dissatisfaction with the process, describing the elections as flawed and unconstitutional.
Alhaji Adamu alleged that the PDP failed to adhere to its own guidelines and constitution during the conduct of the elections. He claimed that local government congresses were held in private residences rather than designated venues, while the state congress was reduced to mere appointments, lacking transparency and due process.
“The leadership of the party is being controlled by a single individual who denies other members their rights and privileges,” he said, accusing the current leadership of promoting exclusion and impunity.
He further disclosed that the case has been adjourned to May 28, 2025, and the group is seeking a court order to nullify the elections.
Adamu warned that if fairness and inclusivity are not restored within the party, it could lead to deeper internal crises.
