Investing in Youth : Senator Barau’s Vision for a Brighter Future

Today is a memorable day, a joyous one for students of Federal University of education Kano. It marks the beginning of a new era in their pursuit of education for the Peoples Senator, Dr Barau I Jibrin , the Deputy President of the Senate, that care- giver and compassionate leader who is always there for especially the youth has been to the University to do what he has always done: give scholarship to every student of Kano North extraction.
Now, within this month, the Senator is all about the youth and making impact on their lives. It started with payment of scholarship to students of Bayero University Kano, then those of North West University Kano and today, he extended the same good will to the Students of the newly upgraded Federal University of Education Kano. The scholarship as he accurately stated is his way of developing the youth so that in the future Kano becomes a knowledge-based economy and compete with other nations. He also commended President Bola Tinubu, who approved his proposal to upgrade the status of the Institution from a Federal college of Education to a University of Education.
It is important to note that the President of this country, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has an ally in this gentleman politician. His style of politics is awesomely infectious for he is an extremely happy person and he spread that happiness and kindness and warmth and positivity wherever he goes. One need to see these students today and how they are appreciative of having the Senator in their midst. Though receiving this unexpected gesture (scholarship) is joyous, but I am sure they are moved by his presence. And they were not disappointed. He blended and commanded and made them happy. It is an overall joyous occasion.
As I sat through it all, it occurred to me that in Kano’s politics of today, Senator Barau Jibrin is a force to rocken with. In fact he is the only politician who has the clout and stamina to compete with the State Government. For example, when the State Government is full of itself for a shoddy scholarship programme that is smeared in scandals, the Senators foreign Scholarship sent 7i Kano indigenes to study Artificial Intelkigence in India is a big plus not to him alone, but to every patriotic son of Kano. This is outside the too numerous local scholarships that bring succor to both parents and students. Recently, he has launched the “Auren Gaya” ( mass marriage) but his will be done differently. It is well organized and a monitoring team is put in place to make sure that the marriages last. In fact, in whatever way you look at it, Senator Barau Maliya is a deal breaker for Kano and the APCin the North.
He is smart. His network is deeply rooted, his projects and programmes and well thought out so much so that the impact will be felt in a life time. He is result oriented and his target is always, always making our youth greater in every way. He is a man worth celebrating.
“A tafawa Barau Maliya”….
