From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has pledged to implement the findings of the Jigawa state Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (J-CARES) as presented by the investigative committee.

The governor made this commitment after receiving the report from the committee, which was established by him five months ago.

Governor Namadi, expressing determination to punish any government officials implicated in the matter, emphasized that the government would diligently follow constitutional and legal provisions to recover any public properties acquired illegally, regardless of the individual’s status.

“We had promised the people of Jigawa state that we would conduct this type of investigation on J-CARES and similar programs like Fadama. We are here to serve the people, and we will not allow any actions or conduct that negatively affect the lives of our people,” stated Governor Namadi.

He assured that any individual found lacking in their responsibilities would face appropriate punishment according to the relevant laws.

The governor expressed gratitude to the committee for their thorough work, acknowledging that the time taken for the investigation indicated the committee’s dedication.

“The committee, inaugurated on July 18, 2023, has done a meticulous job. They have traveled throughout the state, conducting extensive investigations and reviewing the entire project. The report captures areas of infractions and suggests improvements,” explained Senator Mustapha Makama, the committee chairman and Chief of Staff to the governor.

Senator Makama highlighted that the report includes identified infractions with recommended punitive measures. He thanked the governor for providing the opportunity to contribute to ensuring good governance in the state.

Governor Namadi affirmed his confidence in the committee’s work and assured that all recommendations would be fully implemented to enhance transparency and accountability in Jigawa state.
