JICON lauds Gov Namadi for approval of N250m matching funds to UNICEF for RUTF

The Jigawa Coalition of Civil Society on Nutrition (JICON), commended Governor Umar Namadi for the approval of N250,000,000 matching funds to the United Nations Children’s Fund ( UNICEF), for the procurement of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by chairman of the Coalition, Comr. Shuaibu Musa Kafin-Gana and made it available to newsmen in Dutse.

According to the statement, the resolution made by Jigawa state executive council during its sitting of approving the matching funds to UNICEF for RUTF procurement shows concern and commitment to reducing the high rate of malnourished children in Jigawa state.

The statement added the release of the funds for RUTF will save thousands of children under the age of five who suffer from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).

The statement then called for more media awareness of the proper use of RUTF and urged general public particularly lactation mothers to support the government’s effort to save lives of malnourished children in Jigawa state.
