Jigawa APC Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Defamation of Governor Namadi

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning against individuals attempting to criticize or tarnish the image of Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, threatening legal action against such actions.

This was contained in a statement signed by the APC State Secretary, Muhammad Dikuma Umar, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, and made available to newsmen in Dutse.

The statement attributed recent media criticisms of the governor to deliberate attempts to undermine the government’s achievements and to sow discord among the party’s leadership.

“The APC remains fully committed to supporting the administration of Governor Umar A. Namadi and ensuring political stability in Jigawa State,” the statement read.

The party condemned what it described as “rumors and ill-feelings” being spread in the media, warning that such utterances could destabilize the state. “As a party of the people, the APC does not, in any way, support efforts aimed at creating disharmony and confusion within the government under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi,” it added.

The statement also addressed speculation regarding the relationship between Governor Namadi and the Minister of Defence, emphasizing that the two leaders enjoy a cordial and cooperative relationship in the shared interest of Jigawa State’s development.

“It is pertinent to note that His Excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi and the Honourable Minister of Defence are in good accord and friendship, working together towards the progress of the state,” the statement noted.

Concluding, the party warned that it would no longer tolerate defamatory remarks against the government and would not hesitate to take legal action against individuals it described as “unpatriotic charlatans.”

“The APC will henceforth take appropriate measures including legal action against any popularity-seeking, unpatriotic individuals attempting to undermine the state government,” the statement declared.
