Jigawa Governor Launches Armed Forces Emblem, Journalists Donate N50,000

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state launched the Armed Forces Emblem on Thursday, with a donation of N5 million on behalf of the state government.

He also donated N500,000 personally to ex-servicemen in the state, and the members of the Jigawa Correspondent Chapel donated N50,000.

The donations were announced during the 2024 Armed Forces Emblem Appeal Fund launch held at Government House Dutse.

Governor Namadi expressed appreciation to the war veterans, both fallen and living, for their invaluable sacrifices that kept Nigeria united. He urged other Nigerians to reciprocate the gesture by supporting and appreciating their heroic efforts.

“I therefore invite all those present here to donate to the cause of these veterans, their widows and families,” the governor said.

The chairman of the Jigawa Correspondent Chapel, Comrade Muhammad Zangina Kura, announced a donation of N50,000 on behalf of the entire membership.

On his part, Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, announced a donation of N1.5 million on behalf of himself and the other 29 members of the assembly.

Also, The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, donated N50,000 personally and announced a donation of N20,000 by each member of the State Executive Council (SEC), while The Head of the State Civil Service (HoS), Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, announced a donation of N20,000 by all Heads of MDAs.

While the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ahmadu Abdullah, announced a donation of N150,000 on behalf of officers and men of the police command., while representative of the DSS announced a donation of N20,000.

On their part the five Emirs of the state, announced N50,000 each through the Wambai of Dutse, Alhaji Mustafa Aminu, while the Chairman of Dutse Council and the state Chairman of Association of Local Governments Association of Nigeria (ALGON), Malam Bala Usman, announced N300,00 as his personal donation and N100,000 from the 27 Local Government Councils of the state.

While Technical Advisers to the governor pledged N10,000 each, Special Assistants N50,000 each, representatives of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) pledged N10,00, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) N10,000, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) N20,000, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) N50,000 and Hisbah Board N20,000.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in the state, Mr Aliyu Shehu, commended the state government and other donors for their generosity.
