Jigawa Judiciary Swears In 19 Newly Appointed Shari’a Court Judges

The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission has sworn in 19 newly appointed Shari’a Court Judges (Alkalis) in a ceremony held at the Judicial Complex in Dutse. The event was attended by high-ranking judicial officers, including Honorable Judges, Kadis, Magistrates, Shari’a Court Judges, judiciary staff, well-wishers, and the families of the appointees.
Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, the Director of Publicity and Protocol for the State Judiciary, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen.
The newly appointed Alkalis have undergone rigorous training and selection processes to ensure their deep understanding of Islamic law and their commitment to justice. They are expected to play a crucial role in upholding the principles of Shari’a law and serving their communities with fairness and integrity at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Judge and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq, charged the new judges to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and impartiality. He reminded them of their duty to preside over Shari’a court cases, interpret Islamic law, and provide guidance to their communities. Justice Sadiq emphasized the importance of maintaining a corruption-free judiciary, urging the judges to avoid bribery and all forms of misconduct. He described the swearing-in as a significant milestone in the state’s effort to uphold justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
Similarly, the Grand Kadi, Hon. Kadi Sani Salihu, called on the appointees to be law-abiding and to uphold the principles of Islamic Shari’a. He cautioned them against any acts of corruption, noting that the public would be watching their conduct closely.
The ceremony was attended by key judicial officers, including the Chief Registrar of the High Court, Aisha Ahmed Babura Esq.; the Chief Registrar of the Shari’a Court of Appeal, Barr. Muttaqa Usman; Deputy Chief Registrars; and Directors from various judicial departments.
