From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has arrested two suspected vandals in Fuda village, located in Fagam District of Gwaram Local Government Area.

Briefing journalists on the development, the State Commandant, Bala Bawa Boddinga, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.

He assured that intensified surveillance and routine patrols would continue to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

The two suspects, identified as Dahiru Abdullahi who claimed to be a blacksmith and Surajo Yusuf, a self-proclaimed hunter, were arrested for allegedly stealing electrical wires and insulators in the area.

According to Commandant Boddinga, items recovered from the suspects include 11 broken insulators, 20.7 meters of conductor wire, 2.5 meters of cable, a knife, several spinners, and a motorcycle.

He added that the suspects were apprehended through a targeted surveillance operation. He further disclosed that other suspects believed to be from Babura Local Government Area are currently at large, but efforts are underway to apprehend and arraign them in court.

The NSCDC Commandant urged the public to provide credible information to assist security agencies in safeguarding communities. He assured that the Corps would continue working tirelessly to rid the state of criminal elements.

The recent arrest, according to Boddinga, is part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to combat vandalism and other criminal acts, which have already led to several successful operations across Jigawa State.
