Jigawa State to Initiate Car Loan Program for Local Government Employees

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Jigawa State government, through the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, has announced plans to initiate a car loan program for local government employees.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Honourable Ahmed Garba MK, revealed this while delivering his remarks after receiving an award from the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Jigawa state chapter.

Honourable MK urged NULGE members to resist any temptation to engage in wrongdoing in their offices and promised to reward hardworking employees with promotions. He also encouraged them to report any unlawful activities in their areas of assignment so that appropriate actions could be taken.

“As long as I remain Commissioner, anything to be enjoyed by members will be on merit rather than favoritism,” he stated. “In my time, there will be no sacred cows when it comes to legal service; everyone will be considered according to their performance.”

The commissioner also highlighted Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s efforts to serve the community, noting that the Ministry for Local Government sponsored free hernia surgeries for over 810 community members across 27 local government areas in the state.

Comrade Abubakar Garba Shitu, the State Chairman of NULGE, praised the Commissioner for his good performance, which warranted the award.

“There is prompt and steady payment of salaries, allowances, and other benefits due to our members,” Shitu said. “That is why we found it necessary to reward hard and good work with appreciation like this award. We are thankful and full of joy.”
