Jigawa SUBEB Suspends 4 Education Secretaries, Halts Salaries of 239 Teachers

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has suspended four Local Government Education Secretaries for allegedly shielding absentee teachers who abandoned their duties for several months.

Announcing the decision to journalists, SUBEB Chairman, Professor Haruna Musa, said the affected officials are from Kirikasamma, Auyo, Miga, and Maigatari LGAs.

He also disclosed that salaries of 239 teachers have been withheld for failing to report to their duty posts for over six months.

The disciplinary action, he said, is part of efforts to restore accountability and raise standards in the state’s education sector.
