JiMAF lauds Gov Namadi’s approval of N1 Billion for BHCPF

The Jigawa state Maternal Newborn and Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMAF) commended Governor Umar Namadi for the approval of One billion Naira for Basic Healthcare Provision Fund in the state.

The commendation were made during the two day review meeting with members of the forum and supported by LAFIYA UK program, held at Hasinah confectionery on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the letter of commendation signed by the secretary of the forum Comrade Isah Mustapha and made it available to media team.

The statement said, the fund will be use for the enrollment of additional 149,240 poor and less privileged persons across the 287 wards into the program.

The forum urged the state government to speed up in releasing the money for the enrollment exercise to enable the targeted beneficiaries access the services.

“We believe these will enhance state commitment toward achieving the universal health coverage.While we commend the efforts of the State for allocating 12.1% of its 2024 annual budget to health sector.

“The Quarter 1 budget performance analysis by JIMAF has revealed an abysmal budget performance across the MDAs in the health sector”, the statement said.

The statement maintained that, the release of the fund will help state government desire to make basic healthcare services accessible and affordable for all people in respective of their economic and geographical locations.

Meanwhile the forum appreciated the State Government for the passage of the revised Jigawa State Primary Health care development Agency bill into Law, we believe this will strengthen the Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) and promote equitable distribution of human resource for health and improve service delivery.

JIMAF then commended all the development partners for supporting the state towards improving health indices and call on other stakeholders to support in monitoring and ensuring judicious utilization of the fund when released.
