Jubilations As Kano Pensioners Get Paid A Day To Sallah
By Abdullahi Yusuf
Kano State pensioners on Tuesday broke into wild celebrations as they received their monthly pension a day to the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The jubilant retirees who were excited by the prompt payment of the monthly stipend, urged the NNPP Government led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to sustain the tempo.
They also urged the new administration to fast track the payment of their gratuities which had accumulated over the years.
The Chairman, Kano State Pensioners Forum (Zauren ‘Yanfansho), Alhaji Ado Ibrahim DY,who made the request, said the settlement of the gratuities would further ease their sufferings.
DY commended the government for the prompt payment of the June pension, saying that they had never had it so smooth.
He said it was even more gratifying that the pensions were paid complete, without the usual deductions they had suffered for many years, adding that,”this is a very good beginning.”
“This commendation is necessary as our members were paid not only their pension benefits before the end of the month, but also without the usual deduction that we suffered in previous months,” he said.
The chairman urged the government to immediately resume the payment of gratuities of retirees as well as death benefits of civil servants who lost their lives during and after eight years of service.
He said the association would continue to accord maximum support and cooperation to the Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration as well as be praying for its success.
