KACRAN Condemns Bandit Attacks in Dawakin Basa Village, Kaduna State

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has strongly condemned the recent bandit attacks in Dawakin Basa Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, urging repentant bandits to take immediate action to prevent further violence.

In a press statement, the National President of KACRAN, Hon. Khalid Muhammad Bello, expressed deep concern over the attacks reported by BBC Hausa. He stated:

“We are compelled to address this distressing development, as it directly violates the peace agreement established between the Kaduna State Government, local emirs, community leaders, and bandit leaders, which had successfully ended over a decade of conflict in the region.”

KACRAN, a peace-loving association, acknowledges the progress made through the peace accord between the Kaduna State Government and repentant bandits. The association commends the efforts of the Kaduna State Governor in securing lasting peace and urges other Northwest governors to adopt similar approaches.

In response to these recent attacks, KACRAN unequivocally condemns the violence in Dawakin Basa Village, emphasizing that such actions contradict the principles of Pulaaku, which uphold sincerity and the fulfillment of agreements.

The attacks not only undermine the efforts of the Kaduna State Governor, the Emir of Birnin Gwari, and KACRAN—who advocate for peaceful dialogue—but also disrupt the hard-earned stability in the region.

At a time when normalcy has returned to Birnin Gwari, enabling the reopening of cattle markets and the resumption of local businesses, these attacks threaten the growing trust and reconciliation among community members working to rebuild their lives.

Furthermore, this incident occurs while both federal and Northwest state governments are closely monitoring the success of the Kaduna peace accord as a model for addressing insecurity in the region.

KACRAN has been actively supporting the peace agreement and mediating between bandits and authorities to address insecurity in the Northwest. The association urgently calls on repentant bandits to take swift action in preventing further breaches of trust by rogue elements within their former ranks.

“It is their responsibility to safeguard Kaduna State’s borders and protect communities from further violence,” KACRAN stated.

The association also extends its deepest condolences to the victims and urges residents of Dawakin Basa to refrain from retaliatory actions that could escalate tensions.

Finally, KACRAN calls on the Kaduna State Government to provide necessary support and cooperation to repentant bandits to help them navigate the evolving security challenges in the region.

“We remain committed to fostering peace and stability in Kaduna State and across Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
