KACRAN Condemns Killing of Gobir Emir
From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has issued a strong condemnation of the brutal murder of His Royal Highness Alhaji Isa Bawa, the Emir of Gobir, by bandits in Sokoto State.
In a press statement signed by Khalid Muhammad Bello, the National President of KACRAN, the association called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Defence Minister, and the National Security Adviser to urgently consider their proposed roadmap for resolving conflicts in the North West region.
The Emir’s tragic death, after being kidnapped and despite a ransom payment of over 60 million Naira, is a grave concern for all Nigerians. KACRAN denounces the heinous act of kidnapping, murder, and ransom demands, calling them utterly condemnable and unacceptable in 21st-century Nigeria.
KACRAN’s condemnation is based on several key points which includes “His Royal Highness Alhaji Isa Bawa was a revered monarch who served his people selflessly for 45 years, promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding throughout Nigeria and beyond”
“The Emir was actively engaged in fostering peace, even at the time of his capture, as he was en route to Sokoto for a peace mission”
“ As an elderly and respected figure, he deserved dignity and respect, not humiliation and violence”
The association also highlighted the atrocity of collecting ransom after his murder and the additional cruelty of refusing to return his body for a proper Islamic burial. KACRAN condemned the circulation of a video showing the Emir pleading for help, emphasizing the inhumanity displayed by his captors.
In response to these events, KACRAN urged the Sokoto State and Federal governments to act swiftly in bringing the perpetrators to justice, stressing the importance of restoring public confidence in the government’s ability to protect its citizens.
KACRAN called on the bandits to cease their criminal activities, reminding them that justice will ultimately prevail, whether through law enforcement or divine intervention.
The association extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the Emir, the people of Sokoto State, and all Nigerians, praying for Almighty Allah to grant the Emir eternal peace and to give his family strength during this difficult time.
KACRAN reiterated its appeal to President Tinubu, the Defence Minister, and the National Security Adviser to consider its roadmap for resolving the conflicts in the North West.
The strategy, which focuses on peaceful solutions without military involvement, is based on research that addresses the root causes of the conflicts and proposes sustainable, non-government funding methods.
