KACRAN Hails NEDC’s Transformative Work

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has lauded the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its significant contributions to the region’s progress and prosperity.

In a press statement signed by National President Khalid Mohammad Bello and released in Damaturu, KACRAN commended the NEDC’s leadership and its unwavering focus on driving positive change in the North East.

“Since its inception, the NEDC has consistently supported the Federal Government’s initiatives, playing a pivotal role in the region’s advancement over the past four decades,” Bello said.

The association specifically highlighted the Commission’s multifaceted approach to human and social development.

“The NEDC’s commitment extends to bolstering regional security,” Bello explained. “Their provision of utility vehicles and essential materials has significantly aided the fight against insurgency.”

He credited the NEDC’s support with improving regional security, noting that the North East is no longer viewed as the epicenter of insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

“The Commission’s proactive stance on security and well-being demonstrates its potential as a truly transformative force for the North East,” Bello added.

KACRAN praised the NEDC’s openness to collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including state governors, local governments, educational institutions, media outlets, and organizations focused on regional development. This inclusive approach, Bello noted, has facilitated the reconstruction and establishment of schools and healthcare facilities.

“Recently, governors from the six North Eastern states sought the NEDC’s assistance in renovating and rebuilding educational institutions, easing the financial burden on state governments,” Bello said.

KACRAN itself has benefitted from the Commission’s programs. The association received relief materials, water sources, livestock feed, and support for members affected by cattle rustling or insurgency.

“The NEDC’s equitable implementation of policies has addressed initial concerns of marginalization,” Bello stated. “The pastoralist community, a significant demographic in the region, has received its fair share of benefits from the Commission’s development initiatives.”

KACRAN expressed its confidence in the NEDC’s commitment to integrity, justice, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for the region. They believe the Commission’s inclusive approach will ensure all residents, whether in urban, rural, or remote areas, benefit from its programs.

In light of these positive developments, KACRAN called upon President Tinubu to consider increasing the NEDC’s annual budget. This, they believe, will empower the Commission to continue its vital work in reconstruction, development, and supporting internally displaced persons who have suffered due to insurgency. The association concluded by expressing its faith in the power of continued collaboration to bring about a brighter future for the North East.
