KACRAN urges ECOWAS to reconsider military threat against Niger Republic

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) President, Honorable Khalid Muhammad Bello, has expressed concern over the ongoing political turmoil in Niger Republic.

The military junta’s disregard for democratic processes and the removal of President Alh Mohammad Bazoum has drawn global attention.

Notably, Niger’s commitment to a genuine democratic system, its fight against terrorism, and its aid to Nigeria in tackling insurgency highlight its significance in international politics.

President Bazoum’s leadership, dedication to peace, and efforts to improve living standards have boosted Niger’s economic growth. KACRAN emphasizes the importance of President Bazoum’s sincerity and charismatic nature in these developments.

KACRAN strongly appeals to ECOWAS member states to reconsider their economic sanctions and military intervention plans against Niger.

The association points out several reasons for their stance, including the potential harm to the civilian population, increased insecurity, and the risk to President Bazoum’s family.

They highlight the adverse effects on pastoral occupations, the potential spread of terrorism, and the breakdown of economic ties.

In light of these potential risks and negative consequences, KACRAN advocates for a diplomatic resolution and dialogue among West African countries to address the challenges in Niger and avoid further instability in the region.
