KACRAN Urges Nigeria’s Agric Minister to Uphold Confidence of President Tinubu, Pastoralists

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) issues a call to action for Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, to meet the high expectations set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian people in the crucial area of food security.

In a statement signed by Hon. Khalid Muhammad Bello, the National President of the association, it is emphasized that President Tinubu has placed significant trust in Senator Kyari to address the critical issue of food security.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the Minister, KACRAN believes that his appointment signifies the President’s dedication to ensuring all Nigerians have access to nutritious and sufficient food.

The association underscores the Minister’s extensive experience in lawmaking and commitment to food provision, supported by a substantial budget allocated to the ministry.

The confidence in Senator Kyari’s leadership is evident through frequent consultations between Nigeria’s farmers and the Minister in Abuja.

However, KACRAN stresses that the true justification of this confidence lies in the Minister’s ability to supply over two hundred million Nigerians with diverse and nutritious food.

The association urges the Minister to administer resources equitably, advocating for a balanced approach to supporting both herders and farmers.

Given the interdependence of arable farming and the livestock sector, especially in Northern Nigeria, KACRAN calls for a fifty-fifty disbursement strategy in agricultural development funds.

The association highlights the importance of learning from past oversights that favored arable farming over the livestock and fisheries sectors.

KACRAN however appealed to the Honorable Minister to adopt a balanced approach, promising a more efficient and productive agricultural system. The association expresses trust in the Minister’s capacity to lead the agricultural sector to new heights, under the guidance of God.
