From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna

In an unprecedented display of interfaith unity, Pastor Yohanna Buru, the leader of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Kaduna State, ventured to the Zaria Central Mosque today to express condolences and solidarity with the Muslim Ummah following the recent devastating collapse of a part of the historic mosque during Friday prayers.

Accompanied by a group of fellow Christian clerics, Pastor Buru’s visit aimed to offer heartfelt condolences not only to the Muslim community but also to the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Nuhu Bamali, and the Emirate Council.

Expressing his shock at the loss of lives in the tragic incident, Pastor Buru extended his prayers and sympathy to the grieving families who lost their loved ones.

During his visit, he emphasized the significance of rebuilding the mosque promptly to ensure uninterrupted worship.

“May the departed souls find eternal peace, and may the injured recover swiftly. In these trying times, let us stand together, offering support and comfort,” Pastor Buru shared, highlighting the need for unity among humanity.

The Zaria Central Mosque, a place of worship for over 150 years, holds profound historical and spiritual importance. Pastor Buru recognized the deep emotional bond that the Muslim community has with the mosque and extended his gratitude to the Emir of Zazzau for his leadership in the rescue efforts and aid.

Prominent Islamic scholars from 19 northern Nigerian states, including Sheikh Yahaya Jingir from Jos, Sheikh Bala Tijjani Kalarawe from Kano, and Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachikum from Kaduna, joined Pastor Buru in his visit, further emphasizing the message of unity and peace between faiths.

The Chief Imam of Zazzau Emirate, Alhaji Dalhatu Kasimu, welcomed Pastor Buru’s visit and expressed optimism that this gesture would strengthen the bond between Christians and Muslims across the nation.

Similarly, Emir Nuhu Bamali acknowledged the visit’s significance and conveyed appreciation for the compassion and support shown by the Christian community.

As Pastor Buru and his team conclude their visit, their message of unity, solidarity, and shared humanity resonates deeply, fostering hope for stronger interfaith relationships and peace in Nigeria.
