The Kano State amputee football team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday, defeating Jigawa Amputee football team 7–0 to qualify for the final of the ongoing 3rd Edition of the 2026 National Para Games.
The match, played at the MKO Abiola Stadium amputee football pitch, saw the defending champions overpower their opponents in their final group-stage fixture to lead the group B.
Kano’s victory was fueled by an impressive attacking display. Salihu opened the scoring and netted twice, while national team player Usman Ahmed recorded a hat-trick.
Additional goals came from Bethel Emmanuel and Rabiu Yahaya, both also national team players, completing the emphatic win.
Kano will now played with Lagos Amputee football team who led the group A. The final scheduled to take place on Wednesday, while Niger State will take on Plateau State in the third-place match the same day.
Speaking after the match, coaches and players expressed confidence in their chances of retaining the title for a third consecutive time, citing strong team spirit and preparation.
The Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Dr. Murtala Musa, also praised the team’s morale and performance, stating that they are well-positioned to emerge champions once again.
