Kano Assembly Denies Investigation of ALGON Chair, Describes Reports as False and Misleading
The Kano State House of Assembly has dismissed reports suggesting it plans to investigate Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u, Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government and ALGON Chairperson, over alleged land allocation mismanagement.
In a statement issued Tuesday by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, the Assembly described the reports as “unfounded, misleading, and entirely false.”
The statement clarified that Majority Leader, Hon. Lawal Hussain Dala, has not granted any interviews to any media outlet on the matter. It further explained that receiving petitions from citizens is part of his constitutional duty as an elected lawmaker and does not imply an endorsement of an investigation or a legislative decision.
“The online reports, originating from non-authoritative platforms, are a deliberate misinterpretation of standard legislative procedures and appear to be a coordinated attempt to undermine the integrity of the Majority Leader and the Assembly,” the statement read.
The House reminded the public and media that any investigation or inquiry must follow due process and ensure fair hearing for all parties involved. It cautioned against spreading baseless claims without evidence or official confirmation.
The Assembly demanded that all media outlets and individuals responsible for the “false narrative” issue an unreserved apology and retract the story within seven days. It warned that failure to comply may result in legal action for malicious publication and defamation.
