Kano-Based Journalist Launches Media Platform to Promote Inclusion
A Kano-based journalist, Hannatu Suleiman Abba, has unveiled a new media platform known as Beyond Inclusion Media, aimed at amplifying the voices of marginalized groups and promoting inclusive storytelling across Nigeria.
Hannatu, who has a decade of experience in journalism with a strong focus on reporting issues affecting marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kano, is also a final-year student in the Department of Special Education at Bayero University, Kano.
Speaking during the launch, Hannatu revealed that Beyond Inclusion Media, officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under the number 9056028, is set to spotlight issues affecting persons with disabilities, women and girls, vulnerable communities, and other underrepresented groups whose stories are often overlooked in mainstream media.
She explained that the initiative was inspired by her professional journey and close interactions with people living with disabilities and marginalized populations. According to her, Beyond Inclusion will serve as a bridge between the public, government institutions, and civil society organizations to strengthen advocacy, raise awareness, and promote positive social change.
Hannatu added that the platform will focus on critical areas such as access to education, healthcare, social welfare, human rights, and policy implementation, with a vision of “including everyone” in the national conversation.
“Beyond Inclusion is more than a media outlet; it is a movement. Our goal is to ensure no voice is left unheard and no story is ignored—especially those coming from the most vulnerable groups in society,” she said.
The platform will publish investigative reports, human-interest stories, community-centered documentaries, and advocacy campaigns designed to influence policy and advance equity.
Members of the public are encouraged to follow the official Beyond Inclusion Facebook page for updates, stories, and upcoming programs as the platform begins full operation.
With this launch, Hannatu Suleiman Abba joins a growing number of Nigerian journalists using media innovation to drive social impact and foster a more inclusive society.
