Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has urged Muslim communities worldwide to embrace peaceful coexistence and avoid all forms of religious violence.

The Deputy Governor made the call during the 74th annualMaukibi (Waliyyai) celebration held in Kano on Saturday.

Gwarzo raised concerns over the rising misuse of social media by youths, particularly to spread religious hate speech and cyberbully respected Islamic scholars while cautioning that such actions undermine peaceful coexistence and promote societal unrest.

He also advised the Muslim community to adopt teachings of the renowned scholar, Amirul Jaish, known for his consistent message of peace.

Speaking at the event, Bauchi State Governor, Dr. Bala Muhammad, praised the Qadiriyya sect for its significant contributions to promoting Islamic teachings across Nigeria for the past 74 years.

Addressing the economic challenges in the country, Muhammad urged citizens to pray for their leaders instead of criticizing them, warning that negative remarks could adversely affect societal welfare.

In his remarks, Sheikh Qariballah Muhammad Nasir Kabara, the African leader of the Qadiriyya sect, expressed joy at the successful commemoration of the 74th Maukibi (Waliyyai) gathering.

He also called on religious leaders to maintain unity and consistently promote peace among their followers to promote sustainable coexistence nationwide.

Sheikh Kabara encouraged parents to instill good morals in their children so they can be a source of pride to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on the Day of Resurrection.
