Kano Deputy Governor Calls on Parents to Curb Youth Involvement in Drugs, Social Vices
Kano State’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has made a fervent appeal to parents, urging them to take an active role in shielding their children from the perils of illicit drugs and other social vices.
Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen today.
The Deputy Governor issued this call on Friday night during the annual Maulud celebration hosted by Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Dangaske at Bachirawa quarters, Ungogo Local Government Area.
Highlighting the essential role of parental supervision in cultivating moral and socially responsible behavior among the youth, Comrade Gwarzo expressed grave concern over the escalating instances of drug abuse and social misconduct.
He warned that these challenges pose a severe threat to the community’s and the state’s future.
“The menace of drug abuse and social vices is deeply affecting our society, and it is our collective duty to protect our younger generation from these dangers,” stated the Deputy Governor. “I am appealing to our ulamas to always preach against the use of drugs among the people. Parents must lead this fight by closely monitoring their children’s activities and teaching them the values of discipline and responsibility.”
Comrade Gwarzo also called on Islamic scholars and residents of Kano State to continue supporting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration in its ongoing fight against illicit drugs and other societal ills.
He commended Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Dangaske for organizing the Maulud event, noting that it serves as a vital platform to educate the community on pressing social issues.
The Deputy Governor encouraged community leaders to foster more initiatives like this to instill ethical and moral values in the youth.
In his response, Alhaji Dangaske thanked the Deputy Governor for his support and reiterated his dedication to the community’s welfare.
He urged parents and guardians to heed the Deputy Governor’s advice, emphasizing the critical need for their active involvement in curbing social vices.
The Maulud celebration drew the participation of religious leaders, community members, and government officials, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in tackling the challenges confronting the youth today.
The event was notably graced by prominent Islamic scholars, the Grand Khadi of Kano State, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, and members of the business community.
