Kano Deputy Governor Disowns Fake Grant Scheme, Warns Public Against Cyber Fraud

The Office of the Deputy Governor of Kano State has issued a strong disclaimer disassociating His Excellency, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, from a fraudulent social media post claiming to offer financial grants in his name.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the office described the circulating message as a scam designed to mislead the public.

According to the statement, neither the Deputy Governor, his aides, nor any member of his family has any knowledge of or connection to the alleged grant scheme. The public has been urged to disregard the false information and report any individuals or groups promoting it to the appropriate security agencies.

The statement further warned that the act constitutes cybercrime and assured that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“This act constitutes cybercrime, and anyone found to be involved will face the full weight of the law,” the Press Secretary stated.

The government called on the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent activities and to rely only on verified channels for official information.
