The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has lauded Karaye Emirate as a historical and cultural confluence, bringing together the Sullubawa and Turankawa clans.
The Deputy Governor made this assertion following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s presentation of a Staff of Office to the 16th Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Mahrazu, at a ceremony held at the Emir’s palace on Wednesday.
In his address, Deputy Governor Gwarzo recognized Emir Mahrazu as a highly respected figure who, even after retirement from civil service, continues to contribute to the community through his consultancy firm, which focuses on the promotion of Islamic knowledge.
Gwarzo urged civil servants across the state to emulate the Emir’s dedication to public service, noting that Emir Mahrazu exemplifies a commitment to lifelong community contribution.
He commended Governor Yusuf for appointing Emir Mahrazu to lead Karaye Emirate, emphasizing that the Emir’s experience and character would serve as an asset to the community.
Governor Yusuf, in his own remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development projects aimed at improving the lives of the people of Karaye Emirate.
He announced an upcoming 33-kilometer road construction project to link communities in Rogo Local Government Area, which is expected to facilitate trade and ease transportation within the region.
The Governor also emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state. He reassured residents of Karaye that his government would continue to provide essential social amenities, including healthcare facilities and improved infrastructure.
Also speaking, the Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammad Sunusi II, praised the newly appointed Emir of Karaye, describing him as a principled individual committed to integrity and service.
Emir Sunusi expressed confidence in Emir Mahrazu’s ability to lead and pledged his full support to both the Emir and the people of Karaye Emirate.
In his acceptance speech, Emir Mahrazu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Yusuf for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading Karaye Emirate.
He called on the government to consider additional infrastructural projects in the area, specifically requesting the construction of a 33-kilometer road from Tsamiya in Rogo Local Government to Kiru, which he believes would enhance connectivity for Karaye residents.
Additionally, he appealed for the establishment of police divisions in Falgore and Zarewa to boost local security, as well as the construction of a stadium in Karaye to encourage youth participation in sports.
The coronation ceremony witnessed an impressive turnout of dignitaries, including Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Isma’il Jibrin Falgore, the Emir of Rano, Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar Autan Bawo, and other prominent members of the state executive council.
