Kano Emerges Best-Performing State in 2025 NECO SSCE – Government Reaffirms
The Kano State Government has reaffirmed that the state remains the most successful in the 2025 Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE) conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
This clarification follows reports by some online news platforms suggesting that Kano did not top the national performance chart.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the reports as “misleading, malicious, and a calculated attempt to distort facts.”
According to the statement, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, officially announced during the release of results that Kano State produced the highest number of successful candidates with five credits, including Mathematics and English Language.
“This is the most credible and universally accepted yardstick for determining overall performance in national examinations,” the government maintained, adding that any contrary claims amounted to “gross misrepresentation of facts and deliberate manipulation of public perception.”
The statement attributed the outstanding performance of Kano students to the education reforms of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, which has prioritized investment in infrastructure, teacher welfare, and student support.
“Kano State remains the most successful state in the 2025 NECO SSCE, and history has already recorded this milestone. No amount of propaganda can rewrite the truth,” the statement added.
The government also congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the people of Kano State for what it described as a historic achievement in the country’s education sector.
