Kano Govt Further Relaxes 24-hour Curfew

The Kano State Government has further relaxed the 24-hour curfew it imposed on the state following the mayhem perpetrated at the onset of the nationwide anti-hunger protests.

The curfew is now to be observed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. pending when the security situation in the state improves.

The State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, announced this on Tuesday at the end of the meeting of the State Security Council,presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Government House.

Dogo said Governor Abba Yusuf,after intensive deliberations with members during the meeting, decided to review the curfew to now hold from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

He said that the curfew was adjusted so as to restore normalcy in the state.

He urged residents of the state to cooperate with security personnel deployed in and outside the metropolis as peace was gradually being restored in the state .

The commissioner said the security agencies would be visible in the metropolis to ensure maintenance of law and order.

He urged residents of the state to return to their various homes by 6 p.m., assuring them that the curfew would be further reviewed “as the security situation improves”.

He said Governor Yusuf had also appealed to the residents of the state to continue to pray for peace, progress and political stability in the state.
