Kano Govt holds 3-Day training workshop for Information Officers, Media Aides, Stakeholders

The Kano State Government has organized a 3-day training workshop for information officers of the 44 LGAs, ministries, departments, and government agencies in the state, political appointees serving as media aides to the governor, and other selected stakeholders.
The workshop, which was held at the Tahir Guest Palace Hotel from October 23 to 25, 2023, was themed “Effective Information Dissemination in Digital Era: The Role of Information Officer.”
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, who represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said that the training was aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of information officers on how to effectively disseminate information in the digital age.
Gwarzo emphasized the importance of information officers in the government, describing them as the link between the government and the people.
He urged the participants to make the best of the training and use the knowledge they gain to improve their performance.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, said that the workshop was organized to help information officers keep up with the latest trends in information dissemination and to equip them with the skills they need to counter the spread of fake news.
Dantiye thanked Governor Yusuf for his support for the training and for his commitment to the development of the information sector in Kano State.
Also Speaking the Emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero represented by Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, Alh. Bello Abubakar commended the Ministry for hosting the workshop describing it as timely especially in the face of fast growing fake news.
He implored participants to deploy dedication through out the training in order to acquire sustainable knowledge from resource persons aligned to speak on various topics.
Dignitaries present at the event include: Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the Secretary to the State Government of Kano, Alh. Garba Bello Kankarofi, former Registrar/CEO APCON, Head of Civil Service, Alh. Usman Bala Muhammad, Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Shuaibu Rabiu Gano among others.
The workshop featured presentations by experienced resource persons on a variety of topics, including effective communication skills, social media management, Information dissemination and media law among others.
