Kano govt pledges strengthened economic ties with Tunisia

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has pledged to strengthen economic ties between the state and Tunisia, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, culture and trade.

He stated this during a courtesy visit by the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit.
The visit coincided with the ongoing Tunisia – Nigeria Multi-sectoral Economic Forum.

This is contained in a statement by his media aide, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa in Kano on Monday.

Yusuf reaffirmed the position of the state as a leading commercial hub in sub-Saharan Africa, underscoring its commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships.

He highlighted the engagement between the state and Tunisia, as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade, particularly in agriculture.

The governor said that plans were underway to partner with Tunisia in garment production, dairy processing and dye industry, leveraging expertise and resources to drive economic growth.

An exhibition showcasing Kano economic strength would be organised for the Tunisian delegation to facilitate business interactions.
Yusuf also emphasised the strategic importance of the Kano Dry Port in advancing international trade.

“Local businesses are preparing to import goods from Tunisia through the facility, which is expected to boost cross-border trade.
Earlier, Amb. Antit commended the Kano economic potential and praised the warm welcome extended to his delegation.

He reiterated Tunisia’s commitment to strengthen long-term partnerships with the state, and expressed optimism about the fruitful discussions held with Kano business community and government agencies.

The visit concluded with both parties expressing confidence in a stronger Kano-Tunisia relationship, paving the way for increase trade, investment and cultural exchange. (NAN)
