Kano State Government under the stewardship of Governor Abba Kabir has pledged its full support to the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS).
The pledge was delivered by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who also serves as Commissioner for Higher Education, at the college’s Maiden National Congress Meeting of its Alumni Association and a fundraising event helas today.
Gwarzo emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring AKCILS meets and exceeds standards set by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and other accrediting bodies.
He affirmed the Ministry of Higher Education’s dedication to providing necessary resources, policies, and support for the college’s goals.
The Deputy Governor also called on all alumni to actively contribute to AKCILS’s progress, stating that its success depends on their continued engagement and support, not just on current staff and students.
Speaking earlier, AKCILS Provost Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada welcomed attendees, highlighting the event as a testament to the alumni network’s strength and a valuable platform for reconnection, idea exchange, and contributions to the college’s advancement.
During the event, the Deputy Governor commissioned several projects: a new Students’ Centre named after Governor Yusuf, a Security Outpost for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps named after the Deputy Governor, and Female Staff Offices named after Hajiya Bara Alhassan Dantata.
