Kano State Government has restored water supply to three communities as part of its efforts to boost water supply in the state.
The the benefiting communities are:Kunya, Wailare and Kilawa in Minjibir, Makoda and Dambatta Local Government Areas of the state.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, stated this while speaking to journalists shortly after inspecting water taps supplying water in the benefiting communities.
Doguwa said the State Government restored water to the three towns after about ten years of lack of water which subjected the people to untold hardships.
He expressed his ministry’s determination to also restore water supply to Dambatta, headquarters of Dambatta Local Government, which he said had been without water for about ten years.
“I can’t imagine a town like Dambatta will be without water for about ten years. This is unacceptable. We are determined to restore water supply to that town soon,” he said.
The commissioner said his ministry is working assiduously to clear the obstacles hampering the restoration of water to the town which include the rusting of pipes and the vandalization of the valve on the pipeline at Thomas Dam.
He said the ministry is also repairing pipes that had been broken over time so as to ensure smooth flow of water to the benefiting communities.
“All these obstacles are surmountable and I can assure you that with the commitment of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, we are going to surmount them,” he said.
According to him, the Governor is totally committed to the transformation of the state water sector towards the provision of portable water to all parts of the state.
