Kano govt to organise joint workshop for media aides, information officers
The Kano State Government has announced plans to hold a joint capacity-building workshop for media aides to local government chairmen and information officers across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, disclosed this on Monday when he received members of the forum of media aides to the 44 local government chairmen in his office.
Waiya explained that the training was designed to bridge communication gaps, foster unity, and improve professionalism among those tasked with passing government information to the public.
“The Ministry of Information is the centre of information dissemination in the state, and we are committed to ensuring effective communication between government and the people. This training will equip both media aides and information officers with the necessary skills to carry out their duties professionally and effectively,” he said.
He urged both groups to work in synergy, noting that while media aides often use social media for swift dissemination, information officers are expected to ensure reports go through proper scrutiny before release.
Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Abubakar Haruna, commended the Kano State Government for ongoing developmental projects and called for training and the provision of modern working tools.
Haruna added that the association had already been introduced to the local government chairmen and was now seeking the governor’s formal recognition.
