Kano Guber: NNPP Denies Rumours Of Deal With APC, Tinubu

By Abdullahi Yusuf

Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP) in Kano State,Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, has dismissed rumours that the NNPP had entered into an agreement with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the President to intervene in the Appeal of the state governorship case now before the Supreme Court.

Both the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal Court had voided the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP and declared the APC candidate,Dr Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner of the governorship election, but Governor Yusuf appealed the verdict at the Apex Court.

Dungurawa, who made the denial while addressing newsmen in Kano on Monday, described the rumour as “baseless and wicked.”

He said the NNPP had won the governorship election creditably and convincingly, and would “reclaim our mandate without entering into any agreement with anybody.”

“We don’t need any agreement or deal with either President Tinubu or the APC,or any body for that matter, as the wicked rumour suggested,to reclaim our mandate at the Supreme Court. We will prove our case to do so,”he said.

The NNPP’s denial came in the wake of the dismissal of the rumour, also by the state branch of the APC, which said it had no deal with either Governor Abba Yusuf or his party, the NNPP, to compromise the anticipated Supreme Court Judgement in favour of the Kano State governor.

In a statement issued by its state Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas,on Sunday, the APC also declared that President Bola Tinubu did not hold meeting or intervene in the matter in favour of the NNPP candidate to remain as governor and subsequently decamp to the APC.

The APC also declared that President Bola Tinubu did not hold meeting or intervene in the matter in favour of the NNPP candidate to remain as governor and subsequently decamp to the APC.

“There is no where such meeting was held with either Mr President or any leader of the party. President Bola Tinubu is a democrat and strongly believes in the rule of law and the right thing to be done and therefore will not be part of any arrangement or reconciliation to subvert justice and support people who have stolen votes or breach the electoral act to emerge as leaders,” the party added.
