Kano Health Commissioner Urges Agencies To Emulate KSCHMA’s Service Charter
Kano State commissioner for health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf has called on the Agencies under the ministry to emulate the efforts of Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency ( KSCHMA) to develop or review their service charter for effective healthcare delivery in the state.
The commissioner made the call during the 3-day workshop organised by KSCHMA in collaboration with Lafiya Project to develop service charter for the Agency to improve the implementation of the contributory healthcare scheme.

In her remark,the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, stated that, for the Agency to perform its responsibilities of providing affordable healthcare services and support the residents of Kano to overcome financial hardship of setting medical bills, developing a Service Charter is paramount.
Dr. Rahila added that, the workshop would workout strategies on how to serve beneficiaries of the contributory sheme properly and in a better manner, adding that the Service charter would improve the implementation of the scheme and to address the problem of out of stock on drugs and consumables in the engaged health facilities across the state
.
She then appreciated the sponsors, stakeholders and all participants and promised to meet the healthcare needs of people of the state by integrating some services that were not initially covered in the scheme.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary SERVICOM Directorate, Alhaji Nura Babba Dan Agundi, explained that, the Service charter is a guiding document carefully designed to guide clients, customers, and the beneficiaries in the fundamentals of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies and how to seek service and redress.
The representative of state head of civil service, Alhaji Abba Adamu Danguguwa, maintained that, service charter is not only a document but a symbol of delivering quality healthcare services among others.
The chairman, Kano State House of Assembly committee on health, Honourable Zakariyya Alhassan congratulated KSCHMA for achieving the laudable milestone of developing service charter, and promised to support and collaborate with KSCHMA in every positive way to achieve Universal Health Coverage for the people of Kano state.
Papers were presented prior to the development of the charter by the directors from KSCHMA and SERVICOM which includes: Over view of Kano State Contributory Healthcare scheme, Introduction to SERVICOM, The Service Charter, The Service Delivery Unit and Complain handling and Redress seeking Mechanism.
The workshop facilitated by the Kano SERVICOM Directorate was attended by by the Lead Consultant for the development of KSCHMA service charter, Dr Abdulsalam Kani, various stakeholders which comprising Committee on Health of Kano House of Assembly, labour unions NLC, TUC NSCU and JNC, civil society organisations among others.
